Best Christmas Gift Ever

Jonathan worked through a bitterly cold weekend to get the new steps built in time for Thanksgiving. We were so excited, even though most of the family came in through the kitchen door!  The next weekend was much warmer so Jonathan took advantage of the weather to rebuild the railings. He was able to reuse most of the old ones which will save me some time when it comes to painting.

And speaking of painting, even if the weather cooperated we still wouldn’t be able to paint until spring. The treated wood is so water-soaked we need to give it a few months to dry out before painting. At that point, we’ll likely repaint the entire porch floor. In the meantime though, our decorations are up and the dog is happy!
