Bounty Box

This week’s Bounty Box has some old favorites—a couple of eggplants, several ears of corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, apples, salad mix, mint and parsley. Much of it came from Amish and Mennonite farmers from the surrounding area.

This time around we received a package of gnocchi made from St. Louis-based Midwest Pasta (a spin off from Mangia Italiano’s restaurant on South Grand.) I made a quick tomato and garlic sauce and we had that late Friday night after we got home from work. Also new this week is a bag of Asian pears. I’ve never had them but our box included a recipe for pears poached in wine so I’m thinking we’ll definitely have to try that for Sunday dinner.
